meet archie

our little bebe.

oh, archibald. he always looks so grumpy. you wouldn't guess it, but he's very affectionate, that sweetie of a fish. at least i like to think he is.

also, we have adopted a goldfish and 2 frogs.
goldfish name = "poor goldfish" (he has to deal with those hyperactive/annoying frogs)
frogs names = "the frogs"

the other frog is in there somewhere, i promise

if you haven't heard the story already...
jared's parents left for a short weekend vacation and we were responsible for taking care of this fish and 3 (yes, 3) frogs. well, only a few hours after they left, and after jared left for work, the aquarium they were in basically exploded on me (long story, but that's ultimately what happened) and i had to rush to find a new home for these frogs and fish before all the water was gone. i grabbed a water pitcher and some gloves and managed to get them all safely together in the pitcher. with water, of course. and that's how they stayed for another 2 weeks or so. then, one day, i looked in the pitcher and there were only 2 frogs. the next few days i looked around for the lost frog and finally found it in the corner of the room, all shriveled up. sadness. i decided they needed a better home - one that they couldn't jump out of, specifically. so we went to wal-mart and bought this little plastic aquarium-thing for them to reside in. and now they are happy -- for the most part. and they keep archie entertained. by the way, betta's are really great fish to have as pets. they're very cheap and easy to take care of. and they have a very unique personality - they seem much more aware of everything that's going on around them than other fish. they like to come up to the glass when you walk up to them and wave their fin-arm-things (can't remember the word) excitedly. and when you feed them, they practically attack/pounce on their food. archie always gets really excited in the morning when he sees me come up to his bowl - he's knows it feeding time! you should go save a betta from wal-mart right now. wal-mart is evil to fish, just a sidenote.

soon i will update this with the info on our first year anniversary. check back!

  1. What an interesting "family" you have! I'm glad they're all doing better now in their new little home...it could have been a story with a sad ending but you saved them! :)

I'm really looking forward to your anniversary update and photos.
